Welcome to my personal website. I am Panagiotis (Panos) Kourtesis, a cyberpsychology scholar specializing in human–technology interaction, immersive technologies, cognition, perception, gaming, and the psychological effects of digital environments.
My work sits at the intersection of psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and interactive technologies, with a particular focus on how digital systems shape human behaviour, experience, performance, and wellbeing. I combine experimental psychology, neuropsychology, immersive virtual and extended reality (VR/XR), biometrics, and human–computer interaction to develop, evaluate, and apply digital tools for cognitive assessment, research, and intervention.
I hold a PhD in Experimental Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Edinburgh and completed postdoctoral research at the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA), where I contributed to the EU Horizon 2020 Tactility project.
I currently serve as Assistant Professor of Psychology and Head of the Psychology Network Lab (PsyNet Lab) at the American College of Greece, where I also lead the Neuro-HCI XR Research Team at the ACG Research Centre. In addition, I am a Senior Researcher in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and a Visiting Academic in the Department of Psychology at the University of Edinburgh.
My broader expertise includes cyberpsychology, immersive technologies, human–computer interaction, cognitive neuroscience, research design, data science, psychometrics, biometrics, and digital intervention development. My work also draws on advanced statistical analysis and modelling, user experience and interface design, project leadership, postgraduate and doctoral supervision, and software development in Unity, C#, Python, and R.
